Here is Sophie! She is great! We have had a wonderful gotcha day.
We were in our room talking with our guide at 3:40 when the phone rang saying she was here. When we got down to the lobby she was in the bathroom with the ayi. She came out and walked out to us and I went to her and said her name and she said, "Momma"! I pointed to Shawn and she said, "Babba"! Shawn was trying to take pictures but we had left the SD card in the computer from my last post! Duh! Sent Jake back up to get it...
We played with her and the guide talked with the orphanage director and asked him a few questions for us and after about 30 minutes the director and the ayi left and we took her up to our room. She waved good-bye to the orphanage director and the ayi who brought her and happily played with her new Momma and Babba and GeGe. Mary had a few paperwork things for us to sign and them she went down to the restaurant with us to help us pick out something that she thought Sophie would like to eat.
While we waited for our dinner to arrive, our daughter kept us entertained hopping up and arranging our place settings, we played real live "tea part" with our water glasses, clinking "cheers" and the whole bit. She got a little squirrel-y trying to mix her water and soy sauce so make a soup, so I took her out in the lobby where all the hanging lanterns are and there was a 4 story glass elevator that we could ride up and down on and introduce some great language lessons!! Stop/go Up/down! and just have fun together!
We have a live wire on our hands! She is full of giggles and laughter and playing! She was all over the room checking everything out. We already are setting limits with her as she loves the camera, ipad and computer. She is quick to figure everything out. I'm sure she has never seen this stuff before!
We looked at books, played ipad preschool games, wrestled, played with bunny and baby, took a bath, played bubbles..... and then after we had started singing she found the flag in the suitcase and started singing and waving the flag and dancing!! Maybe we'll be able to upload the video of it...I was cracking up! She is already giving us kisses and just fell asleep beside me in the bed. I popped up to finish this as I couldn't do it with her awake because she wants to push all the keys on the computer!
There's so much more to say, like how her pajamas are way to big and fall off her booty! and the shoes brought for her are at least 2 sized too big.... but I better get some sleep too!
Wow! So excited to read about your wonderful day! Sounds like Sophie is an energetic Everly already! Loved how you found ways to start teaching her some English while letting her explore! The SLP in me was impressed with that! If anyone can do this, it's you!!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to SKYPE with you tonight! Hopefully she won't be pressing all the buttons and we won't freak her out when she sees our clan all trying to be in the picture at once! LOL
Love you and praying for a great sleep for you!
Diane and Dan xo
:-) !!!
ReplyDeleteWoke up with y'all on my mind. How delightful to see you TOGETHER at long last. Sounds like Sophie is a hoot. Can't wait to meet her.
Praise be to the Lord our God!
with love,
Jennifer
So funny, I awoke in a startle this morning at 2:30...I was wide awake and thought of you meeting your daughter. A flood of JOY washed over me as I prayed. Looking at your post this morning it appears you have been flooded with JOY for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat you wrote about her reminds me so much of how Haddie was that first day. For Haddie, it seemed that she couldn't sit still, but again, why would they want to. There is so much to process when the world around them gets quiet. Deb, great job in "joining" her in the need to move and have distraction. I praise God for the wisdom He gives us to parent these children, with whom we have no tangible history.
Now, seriously, she is BEAUTIFUL! What a sweet smile! Her face seems to light up!! She reminds me a bit of Zoe S. Such a doll!!!
Praying for you as God knits you all together through this glorious gift of adoption!!!!
Love to you,
Amy
She really is a pretty girl! You must be proud!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is,"Praise the Lord, for His faithfulness!" So glad things went so well. How precious and sweet she is. I am treasuring each word. I will keep praying for bonding and attachment.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Teresa
She is beautiful!!! I'm so glad to hear that things are going well. We're praying for you!
